Ingredients

  • 50 g Quinoa, uncooked
  • 125 g Water, tap
  • 1 g Salt, table

Method

  1. Rinse the Quinoa: Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold water for about 2 minutes to remove the natural coating (saponin) that can make it taste bitter.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed quinoa, water (or vegetable broth), and salt (if using)
  3. Bring to a Boil: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat
  4. Simmer: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed
  5. Fluff the Quinoa: Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Then, fluff the quinoa with a fork before serving
