These terms are the agreement between you and SustainBite ("we") for using sustainbite.com. By creating an account or using the site, you accept them. Please also read our privacy policy. Questions: info@sustainbite.com.
The service
SustainBite plans meals around nutrient needs: it works out your targets, suggests days and weekly menus from its recipes, counts the nutrients in what you plan and eat, and turns them into a grocery list. You can plan for your family, and let a nutritionist see or plan your food.
Every feature is free during early access. If we ever charge for something, we'll say so clearly beforehand, and nothing you already use will start costing money without you agreeing.
We improve SustainBite all the time, so features may change, and from time to time the site may be unavailable while we work on it.
Health information
SustainBite gives general information, not medical advice. Targets come from published dietary reference values for healthy people, and nutrient amounts come from food databases (the USDA's FoodData Central and Open Food Facts) that can be incomplete or wrong. Treat plans, targets and limits as guidance, not rules.
If you have a health condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medication, or have or have had an eating disorder, ask a doctor or dietitian before changing what you eat. In a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services.
Your account
- You need to be 16 or over to have an account.
- Give accurate details: your targets depend on them.
- Keep your password to yourself, and tell us at info@sustainbite.com if you think someone else is using your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Data & account.
What you post
Recipes, photos and notes you add stay yours. You let us store and show them to run the service, and, for a recipe you make public, to show it to everyone on SustainBite once our team has checked it. Only post what you have the right to share: don't upload other people's photos or recipes without their permission.
Don't use SustainBite to break the law, to harass anyone, to post anything harmful or misleading, or to get at other people's data, and don't try to disrupt or overload the site. We may remove content, or suspend an account, that breaks these terms.
Families
Whoever makes a family can see and plan the meals of the people who accept their invitation, and the family's grocery list can include everyone. You can also add a profile for someone without an account, like a child; you're responsible for what you enter about them. A member can leave, and be removed, at any time.
Nutritionists
Nutritionists on SustainBite are independent professionals, not our employees. We check each application before a nutritionist is listed, but we don't supervise their advice, and the advice is theirs. You decide whether a nutritionist may see or plan your food, and you can take that back at any time in Sharing.
If you use SustainBite as a nutritionist, you're responsible for your advice, for being qualified to give it where you work, and for keeping your clients' information confidential.
Other services
Some features hand things to other companies when you ask: Instacart to order your groceries, Bring! for your shopping list app, Google to sign in. Their own terms apply to what you do there, and we aren't responsible for their services.
Our responsibility
We work to keep SustainBite accurate, safe and available, but we provide it as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available, error-free or right for your needs. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, or for decisions you make based on the information on the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law that can't be limited.
Ending
You can stop using SustainBite and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we'll tell you why unless the law or someone's safety prevents it.
Changes
If we change these terms, we'll update them here and change the date at the top. For a change that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
