Pancake Faces for Kids
  • Preparation: 5 min
  • Cooking: 10 min
  • Makes: 1 serving (215 g)
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Diets: Vegetarian
  • Contains: dairy, egg, gluten

Ingredients

  • 60 g Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, enriched, bleached
  • 2 g Leavening agents, baking powder, low-sodium
  • 6 g Sugar, brown
  • 0.3 g Salt, table
  • 50 g Milk, whole
  • 50 g Egg, whole, raw
  • 7 g Butter, NFS
  • 20 g Banana, raw
  • 10 g Blueberries, raw
  • 10 g Raspberries, raw

Method

  1. Prepare the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  2. Cook the Pancakes: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil. Pour small portions of the batter onto the skillet to make mini pancakes (about 2-3 inches in diameter). Cook each side for about 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown. Repeat until all the batter is used.
  3. Decorate: Place two banana slices on each pancake to make eyes and top each slice with a blueberry. Add half a raspberry for the mouth to create a fun face. Serve with additional blueberries on the side if desired. Notes: You can adjust the toppings as desired. Other fruits like strawberries or kiwi slices also work well for decoration.
