- 10 g Milk, whole
- 20 g Egg, whole, raw
- 1 g Salt, table
- 1 g Spices, pepper, black
- 1 g Spices, oregano, dried
- 0.5 g Spices, garlic powder
- 100 g Tomatoes, crushed, canned
- 10 g Tomato products, canned, puree, without salt added
- 10 g Olive oil
- 20 g Onions, raw
- 5 g Garlic, raw
- 1 g Salt, table
- 1 g Spices, pepper, black
- 5 g Basil, fresh
- 1 g Sugar, NFS
- 50 g Pasta, dry, enriched
- 1 g Salt, table
- 5 g Cheese, parmesan, hard
- 5 g Basil, fresh
Method
- Make the Meatballs: In a bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, salt, black pepper, oregano, and garlic powder. Mix until well incorporated. Shape the mixture into small balls, about 3cm in diameter.
- Cook the Meatballs: Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add a bit of olive oil. Brown the meatballs on all sides until they are well-sealed (about 6-8 minutes). They do not need to be fully cooked at this stage as they will cook further in the sauce. Set aside.
- Prepare the Tomato Sauce: In the same pan, add a little more olive oil and sauté the onion for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir to combine. Season with salt, black pepper, and sugar. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, then add the meatballs to the sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Cook the Spaghetti: Boil a pot of salted water and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions (usually around 8-10 minutes for al dente). Drain and set aside.
- Assemble the Dish: Place the cooked spaghetti on a plate. Spoon over the meatballs and sauce. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
