Classic Waffles
  • Preparation: 10 min
  • Cooking: 10 min
  • Makes: 1 serving (266 g)
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Diets: Flexitarian, Vegetarian, Kosher
  • Contains: alcohol, dairy, egg, gluten

Ingredients

  • 80 g Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, enriched, bleached
  • 4 g Leavening agents, baking powder, double-acting, straight phosphate
  • 10 g Sugar, white, granulated or lump
  • 0.3 g Salt, table
  • 100 g Milk, whole
  • 50 g Egg, whole, raw, fresh
  • 20 g Butter, NFS
  • 2 g Vanilla extract

Method

  1. Prepare the Batter In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk until well blended. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix it with the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  2. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients, whisking continuously. Mix until the batter is smooth, but avoid overmixing to keep the waffles light and fluffy.
  3. Preheat the Waffle Maker Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Lightly grease the plates with cooking spray or a small amount of butter.
  4. Cook the Waffles Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle maker, using enough to cover the bottom plate without overflowing. Close the lid and cook for 3–5 minutes, or until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  5. Serve Carefully remove the waffles using a fork or tongs. Serve warm with your favorite toppings like syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar.
  6. Chef's Notes Consistency Tip: The batter should be pourable but not too runny. Adjust with a small amount of milk or flour if necessary. Crispness: For crispier waffles, cook for an extra 30 seconds in the waffle maker. Toppings: Experiment with chocolate chips, nuts, or berries in the batter for added flavor.
