  • Preparation: 5 min
  • Cooking: 10 min
  • Makes: 1 serving (281 g)
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Diets: Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian, Flexitarian, Low-Fat Diet, Halal, Kosher, Seventh-day Adventist Diet
  • Contains: dairy, egg, gluten

Ingredients

  • 100 g Bread, whole grain white
  • 100 g Egg, whole, raw
  • 50 g Milk, whole
  • 10 g Sugar, white, granulated or lump
  • 1 g Spices, cinnamon, ground
  • 10 g Ghee, clarified butter
  • 10 g Syrups, maple

Method

  1. Prepare the Egg Mixture In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar (if using), and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Soak the Bread Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated evenly. Allow the bread to soak for a few seconds to absorb the mixture.
  3. Heat the Pan Heat a skillet or non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add the butter or oil and let it melt, ensuring the pan is evenly greased.
  4. Cook the French Toast Place the soaked bread slices onto the hot pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  5. Serve Transfer the cooked French toast to a serving plate. Top with maple syrup, honey, or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
  6. Chef's Notes Bread Type: Slightly stale bread works best as it holds the egg mixture better without becoming soggy. Sweetness: Adjust sugar or syrup according to taste preferences. Add-Ons: Serve with fresh fruits, whipped cream, or nut butter for additional flavors.
