  • Preparation: 30 min
  • Cooking: 60 min
  • Makes: 1 serving (203 g)
  • Difficulty: Hard
  • Diets: Dairy-free
  • Contains: beef, gluten, pork

Ingredients

  • 45 g Pie crust, unbaked
  • 60 g Pork, ground, raw
  • 30 g Beef, ground, 80% lean, raw
  • 30 g Potatoes, raw
  • 15 g Onions, raw
  • 2 g Garlic, raw
  • 0.2 g Cinnamon
  • 0.1 g Cloves
  • 0.1 g Allspice
  • 0.4 g Salt
  • 0.2 g Black pepper
  • 20 g Water

Method

  1. Makes 1 slice; multiply by 8 for a whole pie. Cook the ground pork and beef with the onion and garlic in a pot for 8-10 minutes, breaking up any lumps, until no longer pink and cooked through.
  2. Stir in the potato, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, salt, pepper, and the water; simmer, covered, for 15-20 minutes until the potato is tender and the mixture is thick, not wet.
  3. Let the filling cool slightly, then spoon it into a pastry-lined pie dish, scaled to a full batch.
  4. Cover with the remaining pastry, seal and crimp the edges, and cut a few slits to vent.
  5. Bake at 200 °C (400 °F) for 15 minutes, then reduce to 180 °C (350 °F) and bake 30-35 minutes more until deeply golden.
  6. Rest 10 minutes before slicing so the filling sets.
