  • Preparation: 10 min
  • Makes: 1 serving (228 g)
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Diets: Vegan, Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Low carb

Ingredients

  • 160 g Tomatoes, raw
  • 45 g Onions, raw
  • 5 g Cilantro, fresh
  • 10 g Jalapeño peppers, raw
  • 8 g Lime juice
  • 0.4 g Salt

Method

  1. Roast or char the tomato and jalapeño directly over a stovetop flame or under a hot broiler for 5-6 minutes, turning, until the skins blister.
  2. Finely dice the roasted tomato and jalapeño, and the onion.
  3. Combine them in a bowl with the cilantro, lime juice and salt.
  4. Mash lightly with a fork or spoon so the tomato releases some juice and the sauce comes together, but keep it chunky.
  5. Let it sit for 10 minutes before serving so the flavors meld; serve at room temperature alongside grilled meats or tortillas.
