  • Makes: 1 serving (206 g)
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Diets: Vegetarian
  • Contains: dairy, gluten

Ingredients

  • 60 g Pie crust, unbaked
  • 110 g Apples, raw
  • 20 g Sugar
  • 0.3 g Cinnamon
  • 5 g Lemon juice
  • 5 g Butter, unsalted
  • 5 g Cornstarch
  • 0.3 g Salt

Method

  1. Peel, core and thinly slice the apples, then toss them with the sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, cornstarch and salt.
  2. Roll out the pastry and line a pie dish with half of it, letting the excess hang over the edge.
  3. Fill with the apple mixture, mounding it slightly, and dot with the butter.
  4. Cover with the second sheet of pastry, crimp the edges to seal, and cut a few steam vents in the top.
  5. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20 minutes, then lower the heat to 180°C (350°F) and bake 35-40 minutes more until the crust is golden and the filling bubbles.
  6. Cool for at least 1 hour before slicing so the filling sets. Makes 1 slice; multiply the ingredients by 8 for a whole pie.
