  • Preparation: 10 min
  • Cooking: 150 min
  • Makes: 1 serving (160 g)
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Diets: Vegan, Gluten-free, Dairy-free

Ingredients

  • 150 g Plums, raw
  • 10 g Sugar
  • 0.2 g Cinnamon

Method

  1. Pit the plums and cook them in a heavy pot over very low heat, stirring often, until they break down completely, about 30 minutes.
  2. Continue cooking, stirring more frequently as it thickens to prevent scorching, for another 1.5-2 hours until the mixture is very thick, dark, and holds its shape on a spoon.
  3. Stir in the sugar and cinnamon, and cook for a final 10 minutes.
  4. Cool completely; the lekvár thickens further as it cools.
  5. Spoon into a jar and refrigerate. Makes about 2 servings (a small jar); multiply the plum quantity for a bigger batch.
