  • Preparation: 5 min
  • Cooking: 15 min
  • Makes: 1 serving (246 g)
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Diets: Vegetarian, Gluten-free, Dairy-free
  • Contains: honey

Ingredients

  • 220 g Water
  • 25 g Honey
  • 0.5 g Cinnamon
  • 0.2 g Cloves
  • 0.5 g Ginger, ground

Method

  1. Put the water in a pot with the cinnamon, cloves and ginger, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  2. Simmer for 10 minutes to infuse the spices, then stir in the honey until fully dissolved.
  3. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes without boiling hard, since hard boiling dulls the honey's flavour, then strain out the whole spices.
  4. Pour into mugs and serve hot; sbiten is traditionally drunk in winter as a warming, non-alcoholic spiced honey drink.
