- Preparation: 185 min
- Cooking: 6 min
- Makes: 1 serving (244 g)
- Difficulty: Hard
- Diets: High protein, Low carb
- Contains: beef, dairy, gluten, mustard
Ingredients
- 160 g Beef sirloin steak, raw
- 20 g Yogurt, plain
- 15 g Papaya, raw
- 20 g Onions, raw
- 5 g Chickpea flour (besan)
- 8 g Mustard oil
- 1 g Cayenne pepper
- 0.5 g Coriander seeds
- 0.5 g Cumin
- 0.5 g Curry powder
- 4 g Garlic, raw
- 3 g Ginger, fresh
- 1.3 g Salt
- 5 g Lemon juice
Method
- Blend the green papaya to a smooth paste; this natural tenderizer helps break down the meat fibers.
- Slice the beef very thinly and mix it with the papaya paste, yogurt, crushed fried onion, roasted chickpea flour, mustard oil, cayenne, coriander, cumin, garam masala, garlic, ginger and salt.
- Marinate in the fridge for at least 3 hours, ideally overnight, turning occasionally.
- Thread the thin beef slices onto skewers, keeping them flat, and grill over high heat, or under a very hot broiler, for 2-3 minutes per side until charred at the edges and cooked through.
- Squeeze over the lemon juice and serve hot, thinly sliced, with naan and sliced onion.
