  • Makes: 1 serving (157 g)
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Diets: Vegetarian
  • Contains: dairy, gluten

Ingredients

  • 40 g Flour, all-purpose
  • 60 g Water
  • 0.3 g Salt
  • 12 g Vegetable oil
  • 10 g Sugar
  • 15 g Chocolate, dark
  • 20 g Milk, whole

Method

  1. Bring the water and salt to the boil, take off the heat and beat in the flour all at once until it forms a smooth, thick dough.
  2. Spoon the warm dough into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle.
  3. Heat the frying oil to about 190°C (375°F). Pipe short lengths straight into the oil, frying a few at a time for 2-3 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  4. Drain and toss in the sugar while hot.
  5. Melt the chocolate with the milk over low heat, stirring, and serve alongside for dipping. Makes 1 portion (about 5 churros with dip); multiply by 6 for a party batch.
