  • Preparation: 105 min
  • Cooking: 15 min
  • Makes: 1 serving (160 g)
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Diets: Vegetarian
  • Contains: dairy, egg, gluten, honey

Ingredients

  • 80 g Flour, all-purpose
  • 1.5 g Yeast, active dry
  • 25 g Milk, whole
  • 20 g Butter, unsalted
  • 10 g Sugar
  • 15 g Eggs, whole, raw
  • 8 g Honey
  • 0.5 g Salt

Method

  1. Warm the milk and dissolve the yeast and half the sugar in it; leave for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the flour, remaining sugar and salt in a bowl, then work in half the butter, the egg and the yeast mixture to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic, then cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled.
  4. Roll the dough into a rectangle, dot with the remaining softened butter, and fold it into thirds like a letter to build a few flaky layers.
  5. Shape the dough into 1-2 crescents or spirals, place on a tray, and let rise for a further 30 minutes.
  6. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Warm the honey slightly and brush it over the hot pastries to glaze before serving with coffee, in the classic Argentine café style.
