Sashimi (Sliced Raw Fish)
One serving has 150 kcal and 30 g protein, and at least a fifth of a woman's daily need of selenium (198%), niacin (160%), cobalamin (104%), pyridoxine (88%) and phosphorus (50%). Ready in 15 minutes.

- Preparation: 15 min
- Makes: 1 serving (155 g)
- Difficulty: Medium
- Diets: Pescatarian, Dairy-free, High protein, Low carb
- Contains: fish, gluten, soy
Ingredients
- 120 g Tuna, raw
- 6 g Soy sauce
- 4 g Wasabi paste
- 25 g Daikon radish, raw
Method
- Use only very fresh, sushi-grade tuna that has been previously frozen solid at -20 °C (-4 °F) for at least 7 days to kill parasites; ordinary fresh fish from a counter is not safe to eat raw.
- Keep the fish well chilled until the moment of slicing.
- With a very sharp knife, slice the tuna across the grain into clean, even pieces about 0.5-1 cm thick, wiping the blade between cuts.
- Shred the daikon radish finely and mound it on a plate as a bed for the fish.
- Arrange the tuna slices over the daikon and serve immediately with the soy sauce and wasabi for dipping.
- Pregnant people, young children, the elderly and anyone immunocompromised should avoid raw fish altogether.
