- Preparation: 75 min
- Cooking: 12 min
- Makes: 1 serving (225 g)
- Difficulty: Medium
- Diets: Dairy-free, Low carb
- Contains: gluten, pork, soy
Ingredients
- 160 g Pork shoulder, raw
- 15 g Soy sauce
- 20 g Ketchup
- 10 g Sugar, brown
- 6 g Garlic, raw
- 8 g Lime juice
- 5 g Vegetable oil
- 0.5 g Black pepper
Method
- Slice the pork into thin strips and thread onto skewers.
- Whisk together the soy sauce, ketchup (standing in for banana ketchup), brown sugar, garlic, lime juice (standing in for calamansi) and black pepper to make the marinade.
- Marinate the skewers in the mixture for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for the best flavour.
- Heat a grill or griddle pan until hot. Boil the leftover marinade in a small pan for 2-3 minutes to make it safe to use as a basting sauce.
- Grill the skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning and basting with the boiled marinade, until nicely charred and cooked through with no pink remaining.
- Serve hot off the grill with extra lime to squeeze over.
