  • Preparation: 5 min
  • Makes: 1 serving (41 g)
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Diets: Vegetarian
  • Contains: dairy, gluten, honey

Ingredients

  • 20 g Graham crackers
  • 10 g Butter, unsalted
  • 10 g Sugar
  • 1 g Anise seed

Method

  1. Spread each rusk (beschuit, or the graham cracker here) with a thin, even layer of butter.
  2. Crush the anise seed lightly and mix with the sugar to mimic the tiny sugar-coated aniseed "muisjes" sprinkles traditionally scattered on top (real muisjes are pink and white, and are given out to celebrate a new baby).
  3. Scatter the aniseed sugar generously over the buttered rusks so it sticks to the butter.
  4. Serve straight away, while the rusk is still crisp.
